Remote code

Hello guys

I have SonyTV Remote Control (new remote that came with my new TV)
the remote manual tells me that that I can contol my Satallite receiver once I enter the device code!
I can't see my Fortec Star Sattalite in the list provide with the remote

Any idea what will be the codes that I can try?
I managed to add my DVD/VCR and it's working fine

do you guys know what will be the code?

Thank you

Thank you for your reply

The remote has no manual code search options
just a list of brand names and codes listed.

I compared the list provided for this remote with another list that came with the DVD/VCR remote and I noticed that they are the same codes

it's look like that every manufactures use codes that doesn't conflict with others.

Did anyone figure out what the FortecStar receiver device code will be?

Thanks

It's not quite as simple as that. I don't think you are going to find any code that will work.
I think that if you want a single remote to control both devices, that your best bet is to get a JP1 programmable remote and buy a JP1 cable. There are a few posts here listing a few URLs that lead to info and sources on how to do this. I use a RS 2116 and a similar OFA remote, and used their learning capability to figure out a device code for the fortec remotes, and uploaded it to the remote. Without the cable and some computer programs, even though the remote has codes for many many hundreds of devices, it could not control the Fortec receivers, but after uploading the device codes, it works OK.
I may be wrong, but I'm guessing that you could try every code in your Sony remote, and wouldn't find one that would control the Fortec.

I just bought a neat learning remote from B&H Photo made by Universal Remote for $90 [$150 at Best Buy]. It is called the Automater 200 and can control 10 components. You can program any remote into this remote. Check out reviews at Remote Central and C Net.

Well for less than $30, the RS 2116 can control 8 devices, and it can be programmed to hundreds of pre-programmed remotes, or it can learn any remote, or you can use JP1 cables to send it codes from a computer, for devices it doesn't know. I'm curious what this remote does to make it worth the extra $60?
I'm guessing it might be one of those with a big user friendly display or something? My only complaint with the 2116 is that I tend to forget what some of the keys do.
