FS 180cm dish

Is it posible to put a motor on this dish and get both c band and ku sats?
Which motor and LNB would be required?
Thanks a million.

Yes, I second that. What exactly is needed to be able to receive both C- and Ku-band? Any FAQ, maybe?

I have no knowledge with respect to this particular dish. I don't know if the motors used on the smaller dishes are capable of moving it or not. I'll be interested in reading comments from anyone who has tried it.
Most C/Ku systems use different kinds of mounts, motors, feedhorns, and receivers than are sold for the small dishes, and these dishes, mounts, actuators and receivers cost quite a bit more. I think it is still a bit experimental whether one of the low cost small dish motors will work.
However an additional question is whether a 180 cm dish is adequate for C-band. This size dish will work for most signals in terms of signal strength, in fact I'm using a dish that size myself for NASA-TV on AMC6. However in more crowded areas of the band, this dish may not have enough resolution to separate signals from adjacent satellites. It will definately work for some signals, but you may not be able to get some other signals.

Yes, you can motorize this dish by using:

1- Polar mount (we don't have that but we may be getting it in the near future)

2- 24"- 36" Actuator. These are usually run by 36v supplied by the receiver and a couple of sensor wires. However, almost all of the MPEG2 DVB receivers on the market today do not have these connections. Except for the Satcruiser 401P which we used to sell a couple of years ago. If you find an old analog receiver, you may use that to control the actuator arm.

3- C/KU band dual feedhorn with LNBs.

Small HH motors will not be able to move this motor due to size/weight.

Thank you for the reply.
However, I'm not clear on #3.
a) I have not seen any dual feedhorns on your site or maybe I'm looking in the wrond place.
b) KU-band. Will universal LNBF work with this setup? Or should it be LNB?
c) Same as b) but in regards to C-band?

I appreciate your help very much
