settings change by themselves

It seems that the settings for some of the satellites that I have saved change settings by themselves -- for example - a satellite might be usals or 1.2 and then the next day it will be disabled.

Anyone one else experience anything similar.

Using a fortec ultra, a sg2100 motor, and an 80cm fortec dish.

Thanks -

Under edit transponder try deleting all but one of the transponders on each satellite. I have had trouble in the past when you get too many transponders.
This won't effect the stations you have programed in.

sounds promising

I will try this - another problem I am encountering is an inability to add additional transponders. When I go to this menu I can only edit or delete and not add. I will try and get back to ya asap.

Thanks -

Glad it worked for you. It's a good idea to clean out the transporters on a regular basis.

Hello,

I just experienced the exact same problem. I'm glad I found this post! I started clearing out my transponders as well, and got the "New" option back as well, and everything seems stable again. However, most transponders for most satellites are all screwed up (bogus numbers). I deleted all those, but how do I prevent this from happening again?

Is there a new firmware revision that fixes this (obvious) bug? I just purchased my receiver from Sadoun a week ago, and I believe I saw version 2.55 in there. Looking on the Fortec site, they're up to 2.72 (for NTSC)!! Can anyone confirm whether or not this bug is fixed?

Thanks!
Robbert

I don't know about the softeware updates but if you keep the transponders deleted all but one on all satellites you shouldn't have any problem.

I double checked again last night and I'm running version 2.55 on my receiver from sometime in December 2004. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me to have to delete transponders from satellites to keep the receiver from crashing. It's actually very nice to have an accurate transponder list so that you can check multiple transponders when aligning the dish.

I emailed Sadoun with the same question a couple of days ago and I'm waiting for them to get back to me on what I should do with my receiver.

Thanks!
Robbert

You could update the f/w with the latest version from www.fortecstar.com It will do an automatic factory reset before and after the update. So your receiver will come out fresh.

If you don't know how to do the update, read the instructions or don't do it.

I upgraded the receiver, and since it didn't appear that the upgrade software from Fortec did a reset, I did it afterwards manually. So far, so good, but since the problems didn't appear until after a week or so intensively doing blind scans, I wouldn't be surprised if it would take a while for these issues to appear again!

If they do, I'll let you know!

Thanks,
Robbert
