Lifetime Ultra can't find

Why can't my Ultra find the FTA channels on Galaxy 10R at 11720V? Are they not there now?

Hmmm . . . I've got a Lifetime Ultra, and I just checked and it's getting ImaginAsian and KKTU-Cheyenne just fine at 11720 on G10R.

Really, I don't know what's going on with your receiver, but the transponder you're looking for on G10R seems to be working okay.

Thanks for your reply mikey. What are your LNB configuration settings? My receiver can only find 2 of the many FTA signals that are on this satellite.

My Fortec Star Lifetime Ultra settings are:

LNB Type: Universal 1
LNB Local-freq: 9750/10600

Incidentally, the LNB type I have is Sadoun's plain-jane Fortec Star unit (something like $29). Nothing exotic.

Mikey

Found my problem. Done a transponder scan and discovered that the symbol rate was 27.691 Mbps. Set it manually and the receiver found the FTA signals. Strange to me that your receiver found them without you having to specify the symbol rate.

Also discovered that the SM3D12 dish motor elevation scales on either side of the motor were off. They varied 2 degrees from each other. Determined the correct scale to use (on the right side) and improved my signal strength by a large margin.

May not be related here, but I've found that the ULTRA tends to miss some signals if you tell it to scan both high and low SR values, but if I scan low and high separately, it will find ones that were missed before. Not sure why this should be but it was the case for me.
I don't have a universal lnbf, so I don't have experience with that, but other people have reported issues with respect to crossover between the 2 LO freqs.

Make sure you have the latest F/W for the ULTRA from the fortecstar.com website. Your scan will be a little slower, but more accurate.

Does this mean you are now recommending that users upgrade the software to their receivers, killing the warantee? :-)
No, I don't have the most recent version, which supposedly just corrects an Italian spelling error, but I do have a recent version, from about 2 or 3 months ago, which I "think" is after the scan changes were made, but maybe not. What version were the changes made to scanning accuracy?
Usually it finds everything I expect it to find, but a couple times it didn't find things I knew were there, but when I went back in low or high SR mode, it found the channels.
