Newbie needs programming help

Hi guys....

I have the Lifetime Ultra, and its great so far! My only thing is....I want to add in Nahuel 1 to the satellite list, and I can do everything, except.....

I can't set the sat. to be 71.x W....only East.

Ideas? Am I missing something simple somewhere? Its been driving me crazy trying to set it so I can even try to hit that bird.

Thanks

When you are on the page where you enter the longitude, try hitting the left/right arrows, ie volume control.
Re channels, I am confused re what kind of system you have, as the satellites you are talking about require different LNBs, unless you have a 2nd lnbf attached to the dish.

I am a starter in the world of dishes, so I got the basic motorized kit:

Lifetime Ultra
31" dish
Sm3D12 motor
.4db Ku Dual LNB

I tried the thing with the volume control, and every other button on the remote, and I am still unable to program towards W.

I thought I could hit Gol TV with the LNB I have.....please correct me if I am wrong, er, educate me sounds better.

Thanks!

Re volume control for e/w, strange, it works for me, although I tried it on a sat that was already set up.

Re the Gol .... Assuming that the .4db lnbf you have is like one of the universal lnbfs like Sadoun sells, then you "might" be able to tune that channel in, but I wouldn't count on it. The Echo 8 sat you were referring to is a circularly polarized sat, while the lnbf you have is linear polarization. You can still get circular polarized signals, but they will be reduced in intensity, which isn't that important, because it is a very strong satellite. However with a linear lnbf, you can't separate the R vs L polarity signals, and unless there aren't any nearby signals of opposite polarity, you'll have a hard time. I've never tried that particular signal, but have occasionally been able to tune some CP signals, such as the NASA-TV channel on Echo 7, however it is much better to use a CP lnbf for these signals. You might be in luck though, depending on where you are located, because I see that the nearby signals at 12355 and 12326 are spot beam signals, that might possibly be weak in your location, but if not, they will probably interfere.
Anyway, it's possible, but not ideal.

Why don't you just use the setting for AMC6? AMC6 and Nahuel are so close together that if you are on mac6, you are on Nahuel.

There isn't much on Nahuel that you will be able to see from Columbus.

Can you explain further? What do you mean by using the settings? Going in and changing what AMC6 is set to?

Not really. Nahuel1 is at 71.8 and AMC6 is at 72W. They are basically next to each other. Very few transonders are active that can be received. Southern parts of US can get a little beter signal. DTSExpert can give more info on this as he can receive it a little better in California (but with a 1.2 m dish as far as I know).

The only transponder that I can receive is some promo channel and signal is very very weak. Most of the stuff on Nahuel is not beamet to US. Just try scanning AMC6 with settings for universal lnb (assuming you have a universal lnb) and you might get something when it scanns lower frequencies (11500 range).
