LNB noise figure?

Does anyone know how big of a difference a 0.5 db lnb and a 0.4db lnb have?

BTW I am asking if anyone knows where i can buy the old 0.5 db fortec LNB. I like that lnb's shape and form much better than the black one.

Not sure but I know there is quite a difference in signal between the 0.6 db and 0.5 db LNBs. :mozilla_laughing:

darn... i wish fortec made the black 0.4 db one the same shape and size as the gray 0.5 one!!

I can't stick a DTV lnb next to the black one the neck is too small and the dtv lnb is way off focal point! Have any ideas how to position that darn thing?

Not sure for DTV LNBs but I use two standard LNBs for T5 and AMC4 running off one 33" pan and there are only certain styles of LNB that will allow such close mounting to one another. That's how I discovered the 0.5 db ones. That's also how I discovered the big difference in signal strength between the 0.5 and 0.6 LNBs. Just play around with various LNB styles until you find a pair that work; that's what I did. Since T5 and AMC4 are only 4 degrees apart I can't use a bracket; the LNBs must physically touch one another to get signal off both those birds. What I do is align the dish and main LNB for T5; then I switch the Birdog over to the second LNB and lock in AMC4. Then I put a big gob of silicone caulking on the LNBs and tie wrap them together. Tacky but it works great...
