Question from Newbie

Hello Everyone
To start I would like to thank Sadoun for the forums, I've learned alot from them.
I have a couple of questions, I'm looking at buying a Fortec lifetime ultra to play around with. I'm looking to receive G10r because of the music and Network tv feeds. I have a Dish Pro dish with a quad legacy lnb with built in switches. Would this setup work from lower louisiana?

My mother also wants a system for her house, she wants to get a 6 foot dish and a fortec lifetime ultra and connect to National Programming service NPS.
(She is also in lower Louisiana) Is the fortec lifetime ultra compatible with NPS large dish band? (I've read in an ad that it is compatible with hu band but I wanted to check with the pros before I buy the setup, has anyone ever hooked one up this way?)
What do you recommend
thank you
rdel

Sorry, no. A dish network dish/lnb will not be suitable for G10r. G10r is a different freq and is linear polarity while the dishnet lnb is circular polarity.

Again, sorry, but no. NPS sells subscriptions for analog receivers via a Videocipher module, or for digital transmissions that use a Digicipher 4DTV receiver or sidecar. The Fortec Lifetime cannot be used to purchase subscription channels. It is a FTA receiver, intended for non encrypted DVB transmissions. Besides needing a different receiver and a decoder, it is important to mention that not all big dish channels sold by NPS are located on the same sat, so unless you are interested in just a few specific channels, you need a movable dish that can move from sat to sat, and I'm not talking about the small movable Ku dishes, since a C-band dish is too heavy for the small motors used for the small Ku dishes. Also, a 6 foot dish is really on the lower edge with respect to being functional for C-band. It will work for some channels, but not others. The problem is not just signal strength, but the ability to resolve closely spaced satellites without interferrence.
