LNB linear vs circular

Just wondering about the differences in LNB's I've heard you can receiver the expressvu radio channels with an FTA receiver.

When I go to Lyngsat's web page, it tells me the signals are R or L, instead of the other FTA birds, (linear) that say H or V

Is it possible to receive the radio channels with a linear LNB, do I need a circular one, and what would I need to put in my receiver to look for these frequencies?

Thanks :?

So no one knows how to do this?

My receiver only has C-Band KU-Band and Universal, for it's LNB's it never gives me to option to select Left or Right, just Horizontal and Vertical.

IF it says R and L, you need a circular LNB. Linear might receive few circular transponders but very few.

Yourreceiver doesn' care about L and R, it really looks at it as H and V.

The easiest way to do this is to put up an 18 inch dish either dish or direct and hook to your ultra and use an LNB freq. of 11250. Point at 119 degrees.
I listen to dish music a lot., I especially like there country clasics.
However they are soon to go MPEG 4 and I don't know what that means for us.

LNB LEFT RIGHT HORIZONTAL VERTICAL.....

If you have a fortec star package your LNB is probably universal. I have used my 80cm dish with the UNIVERSAL LNB (universal is the same as linear -H/V) and I can pick up the UNENCODED radio stations from the dishnetwork sat...I can't pick up anything else as the rest is encoded and I choose to obey the law and not hack.

I agree relative to universal lnbfs like you'd find at Sadoun. However, I've seen things called universal lnbfs at other places like Radio Shack I think, which are really DBS circular lnbfs that were called universal because they could be used either on DTV or Dish or Canadian services. These aren't the same as the universal lnbfs you're talking about. Ie universal is kind of a generic word that can mean different things. Best way to tell if you have a linear or circular DBS lnbf is to look at the LO freq on the spec tag.
