Mr.Sadoun: Installation issues - Fortec Star Lifetime Ultra

Hi all... i am new to the satellite technology... (Dishnetwork did the spoon- feeding for me before ops: )

i just purchased a Fortec star lifetime ultra receiver after hearing good reviews from my friends... anyways, i am having difficulty setting it up and my friends could not help me

I have the Dishnetwork setup at home with Dish DVR 5xx receiver and a SuperDish 500 with 110, 119 (dual LNBF, but with only one white circle showing) and 121 (single LNBF conneted to the side). I am sure that they are all pointed to the right satellite (dont know the settings though) because i have been viewing the channels on Dishnetwork receiver. The 3 LNBFs are connected to the receiver using a Dishnetwork DP-34 switch.

I now have the output of the DP-34 switch connected to the Fortec receiver, but when asked to make the settings for the LNBF, i was not sure of what kind of LNBFs are on the satellitel dish  . So, my questions are...
:?: Can i use the present setup as is and connect to the Fortec receiver?
:?: If i can use the setup, what are the settings for the LNBFs for the 110, 119 and 121 satellite? .i.e the antenna settings?

Please help me since with my limited knowledge i am not sure if i can do anything useful with the receiver :? . Also, apologies for the long mail, but wanted to provide the complete details  .

Thanks in advance... :!:

What are you planning to use you Fortec for? You will be able to receive audio stations, few promo channels and NASA and GOL TV. Other than that everything else is encrypted and you need to use you Dish Network provided receiver.

Oh really! i was told that i woul dbe able to receive the local channels too with the FTA receiver. I was just interested in the local channels for now, so that i can watch the Kings games.

Also, i did not want to dismantle the Dishnetwork dish setup until I become more familiar with the satellite technology (consider this as a self training for me). I will be installing another dish pointing to the other satellite later.

Thanks

I feel bad breaking the news to you since I am a Kings fan too (watchng the game against he 76ers righ now - but on Comcast over League Pass). Sometimes when they are adding new local stations hey might have them in the clear for couple of days/weeks, but if something is encrypted and subscription based from Dish Network you will need a Dish Network authorized receiver.

That Sucks!!! i will have a 1:1 with my friend who said so later

so, i am stuck with just the audio and NASA channel (though i would not mind watching this) with the dish pointed the way it is...

So, which are the satellite that offers me the most bang for the buck with regard to the number of channels that i can receive.

Also, going forward, can i use the Dishnetwork SuperDish with the LNBFs (one dual LNBF showing single white circle which was connected to 110 and 119 and a second single LNBF) and the Dishnetwork DP-34 switch to point to other satellites (since i dont want to invest more on the dish and LNBFs right now until i am sure that i can receive something).

Hope that it is not a wasted investment

Sorry for the number of questions, but i am really lost right now... and need some help :?

Thanks
