FYI: PBS Ku-band Not for Public Use

 It turns out that the PBS Ku-band channels are NOT really free. The PBS Satellite moderators say that the satellite feeds are not intended for public consumption. PBS only authorizes schools and colleges to receive the satellite feeds. If you are receiving these channels, it MAY be okay, but remember that there is no authoriztion for public use. The moderators say that they are not going to encrypt the channel, because the feed is also used by PBS's member stations, which is ALL that it's really intended for.

Thank you.

Well you can lump PBS into about half of what everyone with an FTA receiver watches! Stuff that is not intended for public consumption. So I am not sure what your point is.

PBS feeds are legal to watch becauce they are not scrambled. PBS officials had them removed from the 4DTV listings several years ago because they want you to watch only PBSX or your local stations. Same goes for MPEG2, they do not publicise there existance.
I don't know who the moderators were this other fellow was refering to.
Tom

By the way none of the MPEG2 FTA channels are intended for public use.
