fortec star and dishnetwork into one- how?

I have a fta satellite and dish network satellite (dish pro twin lnbf with one coax output) but I would like to combine them into one cable to bring inside the house (marked X1 in the diagram) and then split them again for the two receivers (marked X2)

fta sat +dn sat=====X1-------X2====dn receiver + fortec star receiver

My question is that i have heard 4 different ways for what X1 should be; ie. 22khz switch, sw21, dp21, or disecq. So which one is correct? as for X2, i'm assuming i could just use a splitter. Also why can't i just use a splitter backwards to combine the signal in place of X1?.

Thanks in advance

I think it depends on if your dishnet receiver can use diseqc. If it can, they you can use a diseqc 2x1 or 4x1. As for the sw21, dn21- i think you cant use them for an FTA receiver.

actually my mistake. A diseqc switch is good for combining two or more dishes for one receiver. So maybe another expert can help with your intended setup. In my opinion, i dont think combining the signal from two or more lnbs into one cable, and at the other end splitting them for two receivers is going to work. There might not be such a device or splitter that does that but i might be wrong.

You are correct, Druzey...there is no such device.

one cable 2 receivers

OK here what you do.

At the dish side connect the dishnetwork and the FTA dish to a 22k switch.(power pass-dishnetwork). Make sure you have a standard LNB on the fta dish (universal will not work. Now the line that's going from the 22k switch will go inside your house with signal from both dishes. Inside the house connect the cable to the FTA receiver lnb in port. Get an rg6 cable and connect the lnb out (loop) of the FTA receiver to the lnb in port of dishnetwork receiver. Now turn on your fta receiver and go to menu, antenna setting and turn on the 22k switch (22khz ON).
How does this work.
When the fta receiver on it will controll the 22kswitch and get the signal from the fta dish. When you turn the fta off the signal will pass thru to the dishnetwork receiver. It should work. Good luck

Thing is...

Some FTA receivers keep power supplied to the LNB even when turned off from the remote. This will screw up polarity on the DishNet LNB. The only way to prevent this is to turn off the main power switch on the back of the FTA receiver; major drag.
