Fortec Star and UHF Remote question

I bought a URC-9910 Remote control from Sadoun Store and was told this would work with my Fortec Star reciever. I can't find the code in the book to make this work on UHF. Can somebody please help?!

Thanks In Advance

Do you have the UHF command center box that goes with the remote? Ie the Fortec receiver won't receive UHF directly, but the 9910 can send UFH to the command center that sends IR to the Fortec.
Re a code for the Fortec, I'm not sure if it has one pre-programmed. My 9910 is several years old, and doesn't have Fortec pre-programmed, but you can program it yourself if you have a JP1 cable.

I have the command center box, everything I got is brand new, but I do not have the JP1 cable. Where do I get the cable from and then what do I do with it? This is not in the instruction book. Thanks.

Not in instruction manual, because I don't think they intend it to be a user feature, but check out http://www.sadoun.com/Forum/phpBB2/v...t=2200&start=0

This lists a couple places where you can get the cable and a forum to get help.
For the easiest way to upload devices not in the remote's memory, you'll need a Windows PC, and Excel, although if you don't have Excel, I can guide you through doing it manually via copy/paste with a text file. The uploading to/from the remote is done by a program called IR.exe , and the information that you upload is calculated using a spreadsheet called Kemap-Master.
I've only done it with the Fortec Lifetime, so I can't guarantee that it will work with other models, however once you have some experience with using the JP1 cable and the software, you can usually figure out a device file for anything on your own with a little effort.

Oh yes, I'm also assuming that you've looked through all the device codes in the manual, and didn't find Fortec? Because if it is in the memory already, it's much easier.

Thank You for all your help. I have finally figured it out by using the learning mode. It took some time, patience, and reading over and over again. I got it to work and it works great. I recommend this remote if you need a UHF remote control for your Fortec Star. That is the only reciever I have tried this with, but it works great! Now on to my next project. Trying to get my motorized dish to work...

Thanks again

Yes, you can "learn" the keys, but it uses up the remote's memory faster. If you get the JP1 cable, then you can look at the keys you have "learned", and find out what generic type it is, then create a device using up less memory. However if this is the only application and you don't need the memory, then learning is OK.
One other thing, the RS 2116 and I think 2117 is pretty much the same remote, but I find the keys easier to use. I think it's the 2117 has uhf and the 2116 doesn't. Although I think the 9910 does X-10 too I think, but I haven't tried that recently, as I use the RS now.
