Lifetiime Ultra Receiver has flashing LED

Please help, when I try to power up my new Lifetime Ultra Receiver all I get is a flashing LED line going across front panel. Neither the remote control or the front panel controls have any effect. Anyone know the fix?

Where did you buy it from? Does it have original Fortec firmware on it? Keep in mind that if it has any 3rd party firmware on it it is illegal and not for discussion around here.

I bought the system from Sadoun Satellite Sales brand new. When I plug it in it does nothing but blinks a LED line accross the screen.

I'll assume you've connected it via both the video connections, and RF conector - and get nothing on your TV screen.

In that case, it sounds like you need to submit an RMA to Sadoun...
you should be seeing something upon startup on your TV screen.

Do the bliniking leds dissapear after a while and nothing else changes after that?

If so, this happened to me when I found out the main cable that goes into my lnb input on the receiver had a splitter connected to it. Depending on your setup, if you have a switch, the main cable that goes to your main tv should be direct with no additional things put on it.

The next thing I would try is to flash it with original fortec firmware from their website. But if you don't feel comfortable doing this then return for a replacement.

Good Point, Druzey.

Many receivers protect themselves from a short on the LNB input by refusing to turn on or, if they are on, shutting themselves off. I have seen various brands of receiver do this. Some even say "LNB SHORT" on the screen.

Check for splittters in line, like DruzeTito says, or a bad connecter - especially those pesky little strands of braid touching the center conductor.

Your receiver might have the Lifetime Software on it and not the Lifetime ULTRA. It is simple to correct by flashing the Lifetime ULTRA from www.fortecstar.com download section.

make sure the RG6 connectors, if you made them yourself are mot shorted, the previous poster said that the grounding shield wires will touch the center conductor, and that's what happened to my reciever, it acted just like yours did, just blinked and then shut off. I checked the connector and sure enough, it was shorted. Fixed it and and tried again and presto, it worked fine. Good luck. Let us know if that fiixed it.
