Super Newbe!! No Quailty with Lifetime Ultra

I just installed by Lifetime Ultra.

1. Package deal with dish 30” and Fortec 0.5dB Single LNBF.
2. 27 lat 97 lon correctly pointed toward IA5Ku 180az 59 elevation
3. I only get a Level of 50-60% with adjustment.
4. I get 0% Quality!!!

Any suggestions?

Well first check that you have IA-5 in antenna setup to UNIVERSAL 1. Diseqc positioner disabled.

Next, are you pointing to an active transponder on IA-5? I usually use 11991 V 22000.

Finally, if everything above is good, you must recheck your setup. Make sure pole is level, and check obvious things like loose connections and no obstructions in the way. Also experiment around a bit. Very slow movements is the best to find the signal. Good luck.

Did all of the following.

I did a star shot with my geodetic surveying equipment to get a good azimuth. I tried moving in slightly. I have an inclinometer for elevation.

No other channels will improve above 50% level with 0% quailty.

Clear view from 30 degrees and higher.

Replaced cables. No improvments.

How do you no if the have a LNB?

Did you subtract approx 6 degrees of azimuth from 180 to account for magnetic declination adjustment?

You'll need to adjust in baby steps (1/8") and wait a few seconds for a blip on the green quality indicator to let the receiver attempt to "lock" before moving the dish again. It is a tediuous process that can be very frustrating...

good luck.

When you say "59 elevation" and later, I think you said you used an inclinometer, just what surface are you adjusting to 59 deg? Ie with an offset dish, you don't aim the dish itself toward the sat like you would with a prime focus dish, so if by chance you are using a perpindicular to the dish surface as your reference, then you could be way off on your aim.
That said, however, I'd agree with a previous response that typically people don't get quality because they don't have the proper LO freq, and aren't looking at an active transponder freq.
