dish size for Brooklyn NY

I live in Brooklyn NY and I would like to know if an 8 foot dish or smaller is able to get the FTA Rai channel on pas9...
the dish would have to go up on to my roof which is about 40 feet high,
I dont know if that would make any difference in trying to get that channel
this is all new to me so any advice will be greatly appreciated
