Unable To Pick Up NBC Feeds On W4
Hi,
I am the happy owner of a Fortec Star 786NA, but I do have a problem I hope someone can help me with.
Yesterday morning I had no problem receiving the the NBC feeds on W4. When I went to view them last night I was receiving a signal of 78 with 0 quality and NO picture on any of the feeds. Usually NBC has a signal strength in the 90's with very good quality readings also. I tried bumping the satellite a little left and right and this made no difference. The other (religious) feeds on this satellite come in just fine, as do all feeds on other satellites. I checked with some friends last night and they are receiving NBC on W4 with no problem. I deleted the NBC feeds in hope that I could re-find them but now the receiver can't even find them, even with the frequencies punched in.
Any suggestions ??
Thanks,
Sky King

They are coming in fine for me right now. I assume you must be slaved to an analog receiver? If so, did you try peaking on channel 22 analog? It used to be that there weren't any analog signals to peak on, but there is now a Bravo or something on ch 22, which is handy. My only guess is that you have a polarity problem and you are stuck on vertical polarization since the channels you are getting are V, and NBC is H.

Re: Unable To Pick Up NBC Feeds On W4
wejones,
Thanks for your reply. I will try your suggestion.
I don't think I have a polarity problem since all other satellite transponders, whether vertical or horizontal, come in just fine with both receivers.
Being new to the DVB world, I didn't realize that I had to use an active transponder with my 4dtv unit, to locate fta channels with my dvb receiver. With past searches I just used transponders one and two and it seemed to work fine.
Thanks again,
Sky King

I didn't mean that you HAD to be on ch-22, only that you might use that to to peak the satellite. Any even transponder should be OK unless your receiver saves polarity different for each channel (I don't use a 4dtv, so I don't know whether it does or not. I've had some receivers that had polarity set for the whole sat, and other receivers where you could set it differently on each channel.) But when I go to tune in that signal, I first go to AMC4, then go to ch-22, then hit the "peak" button on my remote, then switch to the DVB receiver and it works every time.
