Lifetime Altra firmware update failed "Flash Update fai

I am having problem to update new firmwar or using gTools to update channel data. I have search and read all the topics related Lifetime Altra receiver issues and tried all possible solutions and there is no luck.
Here is my Hardware software specs:

Lifetime Altra firmware 2.30 Boot ver 5.1 Release 04202004 (NTSC)
PC to PC file transfer DB9 Female/Female Serial cable

Software: STB updater ver 3.21 /STB STB gTools 1.85 all down loaded from Fortecstar with instruction.

With WIN XP I am unable to communicate with this sucker and the message is "Flash Update Failed". Now my question is anyone here have successuflly upload the firmware without problem WITH 2.3 version I have? Please please let me know. I just need to narrow down the problem.

The cable is almost certainly your problem. If it is a PC-PC cable, it is most likely a null modem cable, which is a cable with TX-RX and RX-TX, ie a crossover, plus some handshaking lines. For the Lifetime, you need a straight through cable.

You are correct. My cable is not right type. Now is it upload successfully.

I have successfully dowloaded and upgradenew firmware from Fortec Star. My real issue is this:

When I use power search with USALS setup, I can not make motor move from one satelite to the other after power search. Is seems that the receiver unable to remember it. I have input my longitue and lattitude and stored reference position. Is anyone has same issue out there and how to fix it. I saw someone post this kind of issue and not clear if it is receiver's problem or my setup problem.
I suspect the steps of setup and search is metter and the receiver menu does not help much.


If anyone knows about this issue, please give me your feed back. I will appriciate your time.

Fortec Ultra is now up to version 2.44. Early versions had problems moving the dish but it was solved in later releases.
