I bought the fortec star lifetime ultra and am having the same problem. I wasn't aware of how involved it can be. I have a DTV dish and LNB and don't know what to do. I know my DTV dish is not pointing in any direction that is listed in setup for Fortec. Can i simply move the dish or what? What steps need to be made to make it work. Ever satellite has high levels, but 0% quality. What's the next step?

What satellites are you trying to receive?

There is not much FTA programming you can receive using Directv dish and LNB, except for few music stations, NASA TV and promo channels.

honestly i don't know. I used to have direct TV but would be interested in any TV. In future I'd like to access multiple satelites but for now what can I get by with with current configuration? Direct TV satelite and LNB. Easiest to do?

Fortec is a DVB FTA (free to air) receiver. Directv uses their proprietory version of mpeg2 and can only be received wit directv receivers and with a valid subscription. Dish network uses DVB, but it 99% of their channels are encrypted and in order to watch them you need a Dish networ receiver and subscription.

Directv dish and lnb is exactly the same as Dish network dish and lnb.

To receive any FTA programming on Ku band you need a minimum 30" dish and a universal or standard lnb.

If you bought your receiver with the intention of watching Directv and/or Dish network programming theny you bought a wrong receiver.
