help please

Hii Everbody

I'm a newbie , or I can say ignorant in the satellite world, but very interested in it.
i just bought my fortec star dvb-786na and motor from sadoun. I followed all instructions(i hope so) by the books. I read some materials in the internet about the installation but without success. It's almost two weeks now I'm fighting to get at least "green" signal but nothing!

What I get is "red" signal from 50-60% and 0% quality.

I'm frustrated and tired can any body help me please?
I'm now seeking for a professional installer around my area.

I'm at Bedford Hills, New York.

I am assuming that you are using SBS6 as your south satellite. What frequency/transponder are you selecting when try to get signal?

There is only one transponder (as listed on lyngsat) that is 24/7 on your due south satellite. http://www.lyngsat.com/sbs6.html It is Ohio News Network 11741 H - 6616 SR .

In order to get some quality, you have to have an active transponder selected.

Fortec Star Reciever Problems

Hi!

Yeah, I have the same problem. I bought the same reciever and I've been trying to get at least a 'green' signal from one of the satellites that are listed on the reciever, but can't get any. I've tried everything. I moved my dish to an area where I should be able to get a clear signal. But it seems that the reciever is just trying to mess with my mind or something. I'm thinking of buying a PanSat reciever instead, 'cuz I heard that it's much better than Fortec Star.

Thank you... and good luck!

SatKurd:

Changing the receiver box will not help much with an aiming problem.
I have a 786NA and it works fine. Gets good reception on many satellites using a 30" dish.

Can you give some of the specifics on what you've tried?
What's your

-zip code,
-magnetic correction you're using,
-sat you're trying to get to, and
-where you are pointing (compass-wise) to get to this satellite?

Answer those and someone will post back if you are on the right track or not...
