Ultra acting goofy

I thought this was funny so I figured I'd post it. Somehow my settings for AMC4 were saying :

LNB Type: Enregistrar
LO: 12125/0
Positioner Setting: Universal 1

I know I wasn't messing with it. Maybe I have been using it too much and it needs a break and that's it's way of showing

"enregister"

my fortec has lost data on antenna setups and said "enregister" on the lnb type field of the antenna setup menu. it always goes back to universal lnb type 1 or something like that and loses all diseqc and usals positions. the dish motor will start moving east and west erratically and basically you have to rescan every satellite after this happens. mine has done this 4 times so far and if it does it again i might smash it with a hammer -LOL.
I hope fortec puts out a fix for this receiver problems.

I agree that this is an issue (serious too). Hopefully Sadoun can relate the problem to Fortec and they can correct the issue in future firmware releases.

I don't think it is critical though as it only happens on rare occasions for me. Only happened 2-3 times in 4 months of use. And since I really consider this to be a hobby and dont use it 24/7 anddo a master reset frequently, it makes it even lesss of an issue for me. When it happens I just reset it and I'm back in business.

What about going back 1 level of firmware? (pre-244 whatever it was?)

Fortunately (I guess) I've been busy and haven't had the chance to put 2.44 on yet. Mine's working fine (signal/motor wise) so I didn't see an urgent need.

I am not 100% but I think I experienced the same problem on at least 2 previous versions of firmware.

converting back to older firmware

would it be an advantage to go back to version 2.39 firmware instead of the new 2.44. since i am having the "enregister" issue in antenna setup and it loses antenna position data, and sometimes locks up after doing a power scan that finds very many tp's and channels. I have a lot of experience with computers. Since most mpeg 2 receivers are just small computers with "pea brains" I think this could be a memory allocation problem or it could be that the software is too demanding on the central processing unit (the chip-I think i read somewhere that is is around 80MHz cpu speed). Fortec may need to re-write the code for this receiver in more simpler terms. maybe even deactivate some of the small less often used features. I would gladly trade off some of the "scan options" - and just keep tp scan and power scan. I have to say i was very excited about this receiver when i first got it. I love the "blind search" power scan option- that is really the only reason i bought it.

deleting satellites helped "enregister" and data l

I deleted all of the satellites that i do not use or cannot "see" from my location. although the receiver still gets sluggish and loses antenna info setting occasionally it seems to do better. (this almost proves my memory problem theory). I feel confident that fortec will fix this soon. I have read about a lot of people with the infamous "enregistar" message in antenna setup and various data loss from other forums. Its not just us a lot of other people are having problems too.
