Not sure about the Fortec but on most receivers I have used if the LNB is set to UNIVERSAL mode then the "22 KHZ" option is greyed out or I guess in your case, -----

Since the UNIVERSAL LNBF will need 22KHz tone to switch from low band to high band, the receiver will take control of that option if you select Universal as your LNB type. If you want to use a 22KHz switch, then you will need to replace your universal LNBF with a standrd LNBF.

Related questions: Can you just treat a universal LNBF as a standard by setting the LO to 9750 (or something else) in the receiver setup (naturally giving up on the upper band)? Or do you truly have to get a standard LNBF? Once you've taken the universal LNBF out of the system physically, does the receiver need to have all traces of the universal LNBF (i.e. every satellite not selected to universal) before the 22kHz switch will work? Just trying to figure out why my SW22 doesn't work with the two 4x1 switches I'm trying to use all together.

If you set a universal lnbf as standard, the receiver will not give you any signal. With universal lnbf the receiver takes control of the 22k switch and it will not work to get the dish signal through the 22k switch. Best thing to do is to get a standard lnbf to use with the 22k switch.
