Fortec manual Channel Search

HI --

I just received my Fortec 768-NA, and I'm quite happy with it. I was wondering how to manually search for a channel (ie enter frequency, s/r, vpid and apid).

Also, on some TP's I get a "bad signal" warning for certain channels. What does this mean?

Thanks !

Jeff

In the "Channel Search" menu, select the transponder you want to search for channels on in "TP DATA". If the transponder is not present, select "USER DEFINED" and enter the Freq, S/R, POL manually.

~ Select "TP ALL" or "TP FTA" in the search mode.
~ Then click on START to search that transponder.

Since this is an FTA only receiver, if the channel is scrambled, you will see the information bar on the TV screen flashing and "Bad Signal" will appear at the top of the screen.

Is this your first MPEG2 DVB receiver?

Hi all --

This is my first mpeg-2 DVB receiver. I'm new to this whole thing, so I'm trying to get bits and pieces of info wherever I can. After asking my question, I did figure out the manual entry using the transponder search function. I am wondering something else, though.

Some channels scan in, but have no video or audio pid. It just says 0. Is ther a way to enter the pid's for these channels (assuming I know what they are)?

Also, what is the difference between the "scrambled signal" and "bad signal" messages?

Thanks for any and all help on this!

Jeff

These are scrambled signals that require a decoder.
