While I appreciate that I am a complete idiot relating to this subject i am unable to get anything out of the fortec lifetime ultra i have recently purchased. (Fortec are to say the least somewhat evasive when called).
I have set the system up with a motor and a dishnet dish and lnb. When I try to get a sat i can "sometimes" get the signal to vary by manualy varying the azimouth. However there has never been any quality indication.
I have been informed that there were a number of "guaranteed fixes such as ensuring parental control is set up etc. None of them work.

An 18" dish isn't big enough to capture the Ku FTA satellite signals.
You'll need to get a 30" or larger dish to get "quality" indication.
Also, a circular Dish type LNB won't work either. You need Linear LNB.
