How do you use The ULTRA Channel Editor?

After I downloaded and installed the v2.39 firmware update to my ultra, I also downloaded channel editor. What are the steps to setting it up and using it? (Kind of bummed that when I reset after the update I lost all the "on screen" editing I had done prior to the update; don't really want to enter all that again)
