"Signal" 90%, "Quality" 0% WHY???
I am setting up my satellite dish.
I receive signal 90%, but quality 0%.
How is this possible?
Receiver: Fortec Star DVB780
LNB: Fortec Star UNIVERSAL
My Location: Portland, ME U.S.A.

Calculate your dish Azimuth/Elevation and LNBF tilt here http://sadoun.com/Sat/Installation/S...Calculator.htm
For Telstar 5 (assumption)
Your AZimuth is: 127
Elevation: 32
LNBF Tilt: 23 Clockwise
Also, make sure that you select an active transponder.
In the channel search menu, go to TP Data, and select a KU band transponder such as TP26.
To check what active DVB transponders are active on your preferred satellite, go to:
http://sadoun.com/Sat/Satellites/Satellite-List.htm

Make sure you are using a LIVE transponder to check the signal/quality.

I entered 10 of them and still nothing, even got satelite finder, got the signal to 90, but quality stays 0 with all transponder that I entered.
The thing is when I got system 2 days ago, on the satellite list there is no Telstar, or Galaxy Satelites and I have to add them manually
Trying to get Telstar5

Make sure your LNBF setup is right.
Contact you Dealer in Toronto for more help in installation and recommendation of an LNBF.

Everything OK
Well it was just patience, I got on the roof, and moved the satelite milimeter by milimeter, and suddenly got the Signal to 88, and quality to 89, so just move the dish, well, I got to buy the rotor because I need more satelites to catch.
Thanks for the help

Good job. That is the secret: moving the dish slowly.

have 70% signal - 0% quality
I'm using a HH-120 Mount -- Fortec 90cm dish -- Fortec Star DVB786v3 receiver. I am using the Telstar 5 satellite to point my dish too as the initial starting point for mapping many other satellite since I have the HH-Mount.
My latitude: 42.196 (zip code: 60047), longitude: 88.070
I am setting my HH Mount to the 42 mark via the markings on the HH-Mount for Latitude on the side of the HH Mount motor where the holding bolts are for the mount (I have checked it out with my Angle Level (Johnson brand)
I can only get 70% signal strength today but no quality.
I have installed stationary 76cm dishes with the Satcruiser receiver before and realize the difficulty in finding the Telstar 5 signal. I recently moved this dish to the Galaxy 3C location which is really close to the Telstar 5 location. I realize that the elevation levels for the stationary dish and the HH-Mount dish will be different.
My Dish Elevation is calculated to be 23.496.
I think I'm very close to getting a higher Signal Strength as I've found in the past with stationary dishes that it's millimeter by millimeter as mentioned in previous posts here.
Please confirm my calculations that I obtained the Sadoun website.
Thanks,
Lance

forgot to mention
I have a signal strength meter (similar to the $20 or less signal strength meter sold on the Sadoun.com website) and I also have a small TV with the Fortec receiver sitting on a small table where I'm installing the dish so I can see the signal strength meters also. I use my handheld signal strength meter to find the satellite signal and use the azimuth that is used for the stationary Telstar 5 location also for the azimuth.
Thanks,
Lance

It seems that your angle calculations are correct.
Make sure of the following:
~ The post/mast where you mount your HH Motor is 100% vertical.
~ The LNBF - Feedarm -- Dish -- HH Motor are all on the same line pointing to true South.
~ Long(W)/Latitude(N) are entered correctly in the Menu for DiSEqC 1.3
~ Use USALS to move your dish to T5
~ Use a LIVE transponder on T5 (i.e. 12152)
~ Adjust your assembly East/West slowly until you get a GREEN signal/quality reading.
~ Try the above without using the signal meter. The signal meter will get stronger signal from the adjacent DirecTV (101) satellite which might confuse you.

update on my progress
I'm able to get both the signal and quality signals over 70% now.
One mistake was that my Latitude setting in USALS was not exact.
I also wasn't starting out at Direct South and the dish wasn't exactly mounted in the middle of the HH-Mount pole as I originally had installed the dish on the HH-Mount pole. I guess the bolts weren't tight enough to hold the U-bolts to the HH-Mount so there was movement.
The heavy pipe holding the dish and HH-Mount (heavy guage water pipe with plated coating) is cemented and level.
Thanks again,
Lance

Help Please..
Hello, my name is Eric.
I just bought a brand new Lifetime Fortec reciever, and i installed it. So far i got the % of level only not the quality. I tuned the dish for a day, but still that all i got. So I brought this reciever to my friend house which already had a system that use the same dish as mine ( Fortec Dish and LNBF). But same thing happened. Only level %, but no quality %. How is this happen?
Thank You
Eric

Make sure that you have selected T5/KU not T5/C in Antenna Setup
Also, check LNBF type. It should be Universal 1
