Can I use Ultra with Direct TV or Oval Star choice dish?

I own an 18" direct tv dish and an oval star choice dish. Can I use any of them to receive ethnic programs on Telstar 5?

No, you need a larger dish, minimum size 76cm for T5.

What's the best dish+LNB to get ethnic and other goodies?

Thanks for your reply.
What is the best Dish+LNB brand in the market so I can get both ethnic and let say Dish network?
Can Fortec Star dish+LNB do that?
Note: I don't want to have different dishes pointing at different satellites. In the future I might add a motor. TIA.

Your starchoice dish will work fine for T5, and your 18" Dtv dish will work to get the music and promo channels from dishnet. You will need to use them both because the lnbs are different.

The oval StarChoice dish is too small for T5. The older 30" StarChoice dishes work OK.

If it's too small why am I getting T5 with a 60E using the off center lnb? I think since philsoof already has one he could see if it will work at his location.

Yes, the startchoice will work with T5, but for first time users, it'll be a tought task to find T5 signal with this size. Plus, when it rains hard, you will know the differences between Starchoice dish and other size such as 30" or 36".
Good luck

I'm in Northwest Ontario, by Lake Superior. The only time I lose signal on T5 is in really heavy rain, but my bell system that is in the high ninety's loses signal at the same time. I also used my bell ird on trans 13 to find T5. I agree that bigger is always better but if your trying to save a few bucks like me you use what you got. I can't wait to get a 1 meter dish and a motor, but until I can save a few bucks I'm out of luck. 8)
