help with fortech-star DVB-786v3

i tryed everythang to get a signel
i have a PrimeStar dish im trying to get T5
i leveled the pole its good ive sit in the yard for hours trying to find the signel.
the lnb cord is good i ran it to the tv back to the vcr and its good
i hooked up my old directv system and pointed the old directv dish to directvs satillite and found the signel in aboult 3 mins and hooked the fortec back up and switched the sat on it to direcev and got nutting

can someone help please

the fortec wont work on directv satellites, direct tv uses a different modulation type,
