Weird problem

I have a good signal strength, 89, and picture quality, 90 - 92, yet when I am on some channels the picture sometimes drops off and I get the bad picture error warning on the screen, then the picture returns. What is weird is that when I go to the channel, the SS and PQ drop off. If I go to the setup menu and select Antennae setup the SS and PQ come back and the channel comes on. It still fluctuates while watching though. This only occurs on some channels, not all. Can anyone offer an explanation?

I have a Fortec Ultra receiver

TIA

DishNEtwork is circular.
1. You must use circular lnbf. DirectTV or DishNet lnbf will work.
2. You must set the LO at 11250.

Interestingly, I was about to post a similar question re to some of the FTA signals on another one of the DN sats. Same symptoms, ie strong signal, and almost perfect quality (97%), yet occasionally, the video will pop out for a couple seconds then pop back in. On a couple occasions, it actually popped me into a test pattern from another PID on the same MUX for a second, then came back. Weird.
I had assumed that they were making some changes to the signal at the source. But in any event, it wasn't because of the polarity.

Fortec Star Weird Problem

Strangely enough, this sounds like sunspot intereference. If it happens about the same time each day advancing by a minute or two each day and then as you get closer to summer it will stop by itself. I live in Mexico where this kind of problem is very common on KU band satellites in the Spring here.

Otherwise it sounds like a very small routine in the software is unstable.

I don't know if this applies to the original question, but I found out that my similar problem was largely due to the SR being off by about 8-10 Ie even though on a satellite where all the other signals had 20,000 SRs, the one that was giving me problems was actually at 20,009 or something like that. The Fortec would lock on it, but would periodically lose lock.
