How do I program the receiver 4 arabic FTA? 0 quality signal

Hi

I had a Pansat 100A that I purchased 4 or 5 years ago and I lost alot of Arabic channels. I was told by Pansat that it was to old so I purchased a Fortec Ultra FTA. I have a 6 1/2 ft dish that I used with my pansat and I'm not able to get any channels and the quality reads at 0. When I hook the pansat up to the dish I get a few arabic channels. How do I program the receiver to get the arabic FTA channels. Also what do I need to change to get the quality up. All responses are appreciated.

Regards

OF

Hi OF,
Sounds like you got some real potential there! (With a 6 ft dish). The beauty of the Ultra is that you just need to select 'Power Scan' on the Antenna Set up menu. No need to program in the transponder settings individually. Please give us some more details. What is the name of the satellite you are looking at. T5 (IA5) ?

Omar,
No problem.
So have you done the receiver 'Quick Start' with one of the active transponders on T5? (You can get all the channels on T5Ku. Arabic and all the others that are FTA.)

I have done the a power scan and at the end it says 0 transponders found. I am not sure if that is the same as a quick scan. Is it the same thing?

With 'Quick Start' I was referring to the procedure detailed on Sadoun.com, on the Lifetime receiver page. You are going to need a 'quality' figure (over 50) before you can do a power scan. That should not be hard with a 6 foot dish!!I guess. What kind of LNB do you have? standard or universal? That is very important.

I don't have an Ultra (just a regular Lifetime), so I'm not sure, but it seems to me that even if he has the wrong LNB type/ LO freq, that the blind search would still find something, it would just return the wrong freqs. I'm wondering if perhaps the LNB power wasn't turned on in the satellite setup? I'm assuming that this is a direct connection to the LNB, not going through any switches, and that the same dish is being used that is getting some channels on the other receiver? Perhaps the dish needs re-aiming, and that even though the other receiver receives some channels, the reception isn't good enough for the search function to work right? Just a couple ideas.
Need more info about details about what has been done, and what settings are being used, etc.

Assuming
~ the dish is aimed correctly at T5
~ you have a "standard" LNBF

Do the following:
~ Change the LNB type under Antenna setyp to STANDARD
~ Change the LNB Local-Freq to 10750
~ Now do a satellite scan and see what you get.

See the screen shot below:

I am sooo happy that I got my fortec receiver working. Thanks to everybody who responded to my post and especialy to the admin's. The problem was that I didnt have the right number to program the receiver. This is my first time that I have used a Forum and its been a great experience. Again I would like to thank all the people that replied to my post and tried to help me out.

one other quick question. I got the arabic channels working and some other non arabic channels. But some of the channels on the list arent showing up. Are they on other transponders that I have to program in? I'd appreciate it if I could get that info so I can watch the rest of the arabic channels.

Some Arabic channels were taken off air and some changed frequency.
Palestine, Kuwait, Nile news, Lebanon are gone.
Saudia, Syria, AbuDhabi, Qatar, Jamahirya... Changed frequency.
They are on
Frequency 12146.
S/R 22000

When you do a power scan does it list a lot of transponders found and then just not locking them or does it not list any transponders found during the scan?
