Cannot Delete Satellite

I have the Fortec Star Dynamic FTA receiver. When I go to delete a satellite, nothing happens. Is there something I'm overlooking? I made sure that I was not on the satellite that I was trying to delete. Should you be on that satellite that you are deleting or not?

StevenS will become famous soon enough
It does not matter which satellite you are on. When you go to the Utility Menu (pg 22) you click on edit satellite, then pick the option to delete. a sub menu appears with satellite name to scroll through and then options to delete either a channel or a satellite. Scroll through the satellites until you find the one to delete. A second screen will ask you to confirm delete. It is defaulted to no. You must select yes first then it will delete.

Deleting sats

I have the same problem, cannot delete a satellite, even though I go through all the same options as described. All three of my receivers have the same situation.

My software version is 8.01, last updated June 25, 2008. Perhaps there is a newer software version I am not aware of?

Yes, there is a newer software upgrade for this unit. I sent mine back to get upgraded and when I receive it back I was allowed to then delete satellites. But beware, your remote for other tv electronic components may then be on the same frequency as your FTA receiver. Check with the tech repair department and provide them with the name brand of your other electronic components so that you don't run into that problem. My Yamaha home audio theatre receiver remote is now on the same frequency as my Fortec Star FTA KU band receiver and it is very annoying. Everytime I use the remote for my Yamaha audio receiver, it changes the channels, etc. on my Fortec Star receiver. It is very frustrating and I'm presently trying to figure out how to correct this problem. If anyone on the forum can offer some solution to this kind of problem please contribute your suggestions.

Fortec Star Update

Hi Cbandguy,

Yes, there was a software upgrade that I was not aware of either, my 3 receivers all had the older software on them, so I was able to, via Fortec Technical Service, to get the newer software. This is what I found:

1. You are now able to delete, edit satellites. This is a great option to have, I got rid of alot of extraneous satellites that were in default programming.

2. I still cannot use USALS to turn my DG280 motor to Telstar 12, at 15W. The dish will not move to that position. However, I use DiSeQc and manually turn the dish until I receive the Telstar signal, then I save that position under DiSeQc.

I have to say, Fortec Customer Service is great, very helpful, friendly, etc.

Good luck with your installation.

That's great that you can tune in Telstar 12. I think I have a tree in the way of that satellite with a lot of Summer leaves. I'll try it again in the Winter to see if I can pick up that signal at that time. But Intelstat 3R at 43 degrees comes in just fine.
