Mercury II

Hi all, my first post here so hope it's in the right place.

Having problem finding a DVD recorder with "SPDIF IN" to accept
the optical output from the Mercury II. In trying to record
PBS shows I have to use the SPDIF Output setting into my receiver
or I get no sound at all. Since my DVD recorder has no optical input,
all I can record is the video.

Hope someone here has a suggestion.....or two. Thanks.

I got a device on ebay for about $20 called a sonic voom. I used it to hook the spdif to the audio inputs on my 32"Lcd tv and it worked. Look it up on ebay and see if it's what you need. Sadly on Feb 10th some of the PBS stuff went HD and we now need an HD receiver. I think Create, World and maybe one other PBS is still in SD not HD,,Thanks! Blind

Three Cheers for Sadoun Satellite

Well as a newcomer to FTA Satellite reception, I like the one-stop shopping at Sadoun Satellite. They have everything needed to set up a system, and for newcomers, their packages (I have purchased two M2 Motorized Systems) are just the thing we need. Everything comes in one box, and their shipping is fast.

Their website is a treasure trove of information on how to set up systems, forums for those experienced and inexperienced to state their points of view, and links such as Lyngsat.com.

As for service after the sale, I'd say their folks at sales and tech service are top notch, they have always returned my calls and helped me out with problems. But, remember, it is up to the customer to educate themselves to a certain degree, and to exercise some mechanical and electronic skills to get their system up and running. Don't expect a company to hold your hand from beginning to end, you have to be proactive and do a majority of the work yourself.

In the end, I'd say that Sadoun rates a triple A, and I would like to especially thank Judy and Steve who have helped me through this process.

Oh, and I really like those Sadoun hats, that's a nice personal touch. This is the first place I've dealt with in a long time that shows customer appreciation in such a nice way. I make a point of wearing my hat anytime I work on my system, I think it gives me good luck.

The Sadoun Hat

I like the Hat as well and have begun wearing it again with
the change to warmer weather.

I do have to explain to people that Sadoun doesn't actually
sell Satellites ("Sadoun Satellite Sales")

Hughes sells satellites but they are very expensive!
