OK, newbie.. have DTV and DISH 18"dishes, what do i nee
hope im not breaking any rules. have both dishes, will the fortec ultra get DTV freeair channels? and dishnetwork freeair channels? what do i need to get both going? switches, software etc...?
You can't get DTV FTA channels because they're not DVB. You will be able to get the audio channels, a couple of Locals and NASA TV on the Dish Network satellites. To receive them, you'll need an 18 inch dish pointed at the echostar satellite of your choice.
I have received my lifetime receiver and dish, but need some better weather to install.
In the meantime, I have an old DirectTV dish and LNB mounted on the house, pointing at Direct's 101 sat which is the same as AMC4. I changed the Lifetime's freq to the circular polarized Directv freq as "Standard" and 11250, and did a scan. It doens't find anything there. I assume because the Lifetime is using Vert and Horiz polarization and this current LNB is "circular".
If it's possible to receive Echostar Nasa channel how do you set the polarization in Lifetime setup to be other than V/H?
Is there anything of value using the circular polarization setup on 101?
Like you said, AMC 4 uses KU signals and not circular. 18 inch is too small to receive AMC 4. With you're DirecTV dish and LNB, you'll be able to watch NASA TV on Echo 7. But you'll need to turn the dish to Echo 7 first. You'll be able to use a circular LNB with your Lifetime receiver. I don't remember well but I think Horizontal is left and Vertical is right. Correct me if I'm wrong on this.
I am getting the same message - can you please help :-)

It found 3 music channels with the same music on them. While scrolling thru the list of scrambled channels, I found 1 open channel "Welcome to SuperDish"
One question for the newbie - I also picked other Echo sattelites from the list, and since the signal qual was there I assumed the dish was picking them up, too. Ultimately I found this was not the case, but scanning the same sattelite. How do you figure out exactly which satellite the thing is pointing at???
Check your frequencies, normally on adjacent satellites, there are not a lot of frequencies that are used by both of them. Also check the channels you are receiving.
