Lifetime Ultra STB

Bought a used STB from E-Bay and SURPRISE! it had hacked firmware on it!

So, I re-flashed it and for some reason, the remote that it came with stopped working! It did not say FortecStar on it and I don't know why it worked only with the hacked firmware, but that was the case.

So, I saw that Glorystar had the Ultra remote that I needed so I bought it.

Now everything works as it should but, one thing seems strange to me.

All of my signal and quality readings are alot higher now that factory fresh firmware is on the box and the picture quality even seems better now than it did before!

Any reason for this?

I'd been using the box for a long time without knowing it had hacked firmware on it. Then, I scanned 119 for NASA and a "new satellite" appeared in my list called Echostar Package. I don't know where that came from, but, I am glad it's gone now! The box even seems to work much better now that ever too.

Thanks for any opinions.
