Mercury 11

I have not had a chance to use my new Mercury 11 and now the remote does not work . I changed the batteries and purchased a charger with no results. The receiver will show dots but will not function from the receiver buttons either. I feel it is something simple I am missing but I am unable to put my finger on the problem. I have changed the power source on the receiver but without any luck.

help and thanks

What do you see on the TV? How do you have it connected to the TV? Ie RF, A/V, component? What do you have connected to the other ports, ie LNBF, other receiver to pass thru?

Have you tried hitting the STB button {upper left, 5th down} before trying to use the remote?

I assume that you haven't tried uploading firmware to the receiver?

I'm trying to remember what screen comes up when it's first used & after a reboot. It seems like it's in some kind of what language do you want or something like that, until you've saved some sats and channels. So, if somehow you hit the TV or VCR button in the upper right, perhaps it's still waiting for a response, however I don't know why you wouldn't see it on the TV, unless you're using the wrong output or something.

It's a universal remote. Pressing STB button to switch to satllite mode should work (as stated above)

I have disconnected the Mercury 11 from the 922 to try and separate and find out what is the propblem. The Mercury would not pull up the menu. also the 922 separate would not bring up the menu. If the 922 was on with the Mercury it would bring up the Mercury menu to a small extent. On the Mercury remote left hand buttons are: top is power next tv/sat, sat, tv, radio and recall is last. Down furtherI have info, menu and last is lang-pause. None of my receivers have have been on the computer for changes by me. At this point I am still working on the receivers to get the system up and running. Thanks for your support.

Boy, that's weird. What you describe about the Mercury remote isn't even close to what my Mercury remote looks like. I don't have ANY of those keys along the left side, except for the power button at the top. That's where the similarity ends. But along the RIGHT side, I have audio toggle, TV, VCR, DVD, STB going down the top third on the right side. What I and other's were trying to say, is that if one of these keys other than STB had accidently been hit, then the remote will no longer talk to the Mercury, but would be trying to talk to one of those other devices, and you get it to talk to the Mercury again by hitting the STB button. However, if your remote is different, then I'm not sure what buttons your remote has.
Mine looks like the picture at:

re the first part of the above, unfortunately, I don't have a clue about what you are trying to say is happening, and don't have a clue about how you have the receivers connected, particularly with respect to how you have them connected to the TV. It really sounds like you have them connected in an unusual way.

I found the right remote and was able to get the menu to perform. The remote will not control the tv. The problems with the Mercury 11 was operator problems so far--in other words it was my fault. That really hurts to own up that the Mercury 11 was operating proper and I goofed.I am still not set up proper with my dish but I will move ahead. thanks to all for the help
