Lifetime Update Problem

Hi-
I updated my lifetime receiver using v3.0 and now the receiver displays 0001 on the front. The software seemed to download ok. Any help would be appreciated. I updated the flash rom file with the file at the FS web site. Do you have to update the boot file too?

Re: Lifetime Update Problem

Have you tried to unplug the receiver? Does the TV show anything?

Yes, I have unplugged the receiver several times. I am getting no picture at all. When I plug the receiver back in, I see a dot on the display, it then changes to 'on', then goes to 0001. If I turn the receiver off, then the time is displayed.
Thanks for the reply.

What does the TV show? Black screen? If so, it seems the data was corrupted during the loading process. Try to load the bin again to see if it makes any differences.

Hopefully, loading the bin again will make your receiver awake. Do not touch any thing until the uploader indicate it's done.
Corrupted data might cause the receiver damaged permenantly.

OK. I downloaded it again to the receiver. As it was being downloaded, the numbers on the receiver counted up in sync with the software status bar. When it was complete, the receiver showed 0100, meaning 100% complete, then it went to 0001 on the receiver display. I then downloaded the update again from the FS web site and then downloaded it to the receiver....same results. 0001 on the receiver display, No picture, nothing.

Sorry to hear it does not work for you. Double check to make sure the "flash rom file" is checked, baud rate is set at 115200, most important the file is bin file. I once forgot to unzip and accidently upload the zip file to my Lifetime, luckilly, I was able to make the receiver work again by uploading the bin file.
It seems that the data was corrupted, making the receiver does not function anymore. If you feel there is nothing to loose now, try to upload the European file (PAL) to see if it makes any differences. if the European bin can make the receiver awake, then uploading the 2.19 bin again.
Regards,
Michael

Tried the PAL file and same thing. I then tried to download the V3.0 again and then tried installing the NTSC update. It still does not work. I guess I am out of luck now. Thanks for your help.

Do you use Female to Female 9 pin traight-thru cable, right? I guess you do, if not the data would not be transferred from PC to the receiver, but does not hurt to ask.
Last thing to try, unplug the receiver over night, but I doubt it will make any differences.

Yes, it is a female to female DB9 cable. The pin outs show 2-2, 3-3, and 5-5. I even checked it with a multimeter. I'll unplug it overnight and see what happens. I have sent an email to Fortec Star tech support to see what they say. I appreciate your help.
