Question Mercury II EPG?

I don't know if I am the only one that is having this problem, but maybe other folks have experienced this and can help me with an answer.

On my Mercury II remote, I push the EPG (Electronic Program Guide) button and I get a nice screen that looks like a program guide. (Which is mostly black boxes, but the channel names are there.)

If I push the "Current" button, nothing seems to happen.
If I push the "9 Days" button, the "Moving to Satellite Position" yellow box comes up onto the screen.

At this point everything "seems" to freeze up. (I have even left it in this condition overnight hoping that it would find what it was looking for, but to no avail.)

I think what is happening, is that the dish is moving to a satellite where it can obtain the information that I have asked it for, but maybe I don't have "that" satellite programmed into the Mercury II receiver.

A. Does anyone ever use their EPG Button?

B. Does anyone know why the message "Moving to Satellite Position" is coming up onto the screen when I am asking about a channel on a particular satellite that I am already tuned to?

C. Does Anyone know where the dish is moving to so that I can program this satellite into my receiver so that it will download the information
I am asking it for?

D. Should I just act as if this button doesn't exist on my remote, and continue to live life with no possibility of having an EPG?

Thank You Very Much for your help.

For the vast majority of FTA channels, there is no EPG, simply because the uplinkers don't provide that info. Some channels have partial info. Re the dish moving, I guess I'd have to ask what sat/transponder you're looking at. This sounds to me like you're on a transponder which is part of a network, like Dishnet or something. Sometimes networks will have data not just for the transponder you are on, but for other transponders and even transponders on other satellites. Often, the data identifyling WHERE these other sats are is not correct. So if this is the reason, the dish could be going anywhere. Anyway, I'm curious which channels were doing this. Ie what sat/channel were you tuned to, and what program did you click on to make the dish move. Might be able to figure out why, by looking at that channel with TSREADER. TSREADER will show you the event information table, which feeds the EPG with data, and also show the NIT, which lists the positions of other sats in the network. Should be able to tell why your dish was moving from that data.
I've seen many channels that had an EIT with little or no info, and also had an NIT which listed the positions of satellites in the network as being at 0 degrees or 19 deg or something like that, obviously incorrect info.
