Question Search Question

When I do a power search and include scrambled channels, why do I not pull the Digicipher 2 channels? I get PowerVU and others, but not them. Also I assume that a Power search on the Mercury II is the same as a blind search, correct?

Thanks,

Thanks,

A DVB receiver can't lock on a DCII signal, which is in a different format. Even the unencrypted DCII signals won't lock. I don't understand the difference, but the DVB receiver is looking for a specific format, and if it doesn't find that format, it gets all sorts of checksum errors, assumes a bad signal, and it doesn't lock.
With the PowerVU and other encryption methods, the basic signal structure is the same as DVB to the extent that the different packets are transmitted in the basic DVB format. The PAT, and PMT packets are generally not encrypted and are in standard DVB format. It's just that the video and audio packets are encrypted, and sometimes in addition, the PMTs don't have the PIDs for A/V listed.

The Mercury II is not DCII capable. It does not read the channels. While the digital for 4Dtv is MPEG it is not DVB which is what the Mercury II is. The POwerVu channels you are seeing are DVB MPEG2 channels.
