Mercury II Display Issue

Quick question - my new Mercury II display is not displaying the characters properly (some of the LED lights are not illuminating).

Anyone else experiencing a similar problem? Is there any way to correct this issue?

In most cases I found out that an insect inside the panel is the problem. If not then some of the wires connected to the display may be loose.

Thanks for the reply. Since it is only a minor nuisance, is it worth taking apart the unit to check for loose wires, etc, or am I asking for trouble?

Depends on a few things.

For example I used to repair electronics, so I would think nothing about taking it apart.

If your not experienced with this sort of thing, then I would advise against it. For safety as well as many times additional damage can be done, then it can be even more difficult to repair because there would be two or three problems!

Then warranty. If you open the box, this would void any warranty for any company I know of. Also many manufacturers have various ways of knowing someone has tampered with their products. In some cases just removing one screw will permanently disable an electronic device.

So if you know what you are doing and don't care if it voids the warranty (price is no object - paying for repair or a new unit no big deal), then take it apart.

Otherwise send it in for repair.
