Mercury II contol BUD

I think I know the answer to this question, but I want to ask it anyway. Can the Mercury II control the position on my BUD? Can it do the skew?

Thanks,

Can not do skew if you are talking the "normal" big dish setup of feedhorn/lnb. If you are using the BSC621 lnbf it can control polarity and skew is controlled via dish position just like little dishes. As to moving you will need a VBoxII to convert the signal coming down the coax to 36v which the actuator requires.

I know what you're trying to say, but the way you said it is a bit misleading. Actuators don't "require" 36V. I've run 36V actuators for months using only a 12V car battery. I think they do draw a bit more current than those little motors powered by FTA receivers though.
The VBOX is reading the DiseqC 1.2 commands coming down the coax, then sending the +/- 36 volts to the motor to move it to stored positions. The way you said it, it sounds like it's converting the 5V DiseqC signals into 36 V or something. It's getting the 36 V from the power line and just using the "signals" to tell it what to do.

Not positive here (no electrical engineer) but I think you can basically run any DC unit from any voltage. Will either run faster and burn up or slower and potentially burn up or not run at all due to insufficient voltage.

Yeah. THey certainly do run faster at 36V. When I was running off a car battery it just creeped along like the little I think I can engine, but it got there eventually.

I have my Mercury II connected to my 12 ft. BUD, use a V-Box II to connect to the 36 volt actuator (positioner), and a BSC621-2 LNBF to get C/Ku. Works great! I have 370 channels...
