If you own one of the above referenced models from Fortec Star I recommend you update your receiver's firmware to the latest release v3.04. This latest software will resolve some bugs with previous versions and will improve the perfomance of your receiver.

6000: Compress Application - v.3.04 PAL ( August 19, 2003)
9800v2: Compress Application - v.3.04 PAL ( August 19, 2003)
9800HDD: Compress Application - v.3.04 PAL ( September 03, 2003)

I bought my Fortec star receiver back in April 2003 here in USA from you guys. Would this 9800v2: Compress Application - v.3.04 PAL ( August 19, 2003) still work for my receiver eventhough the update is for PAL system only. I assume my receiver is NTSC.

The PAL application will work for your model.

Before you upgrade do a factory reset. Your receiver will default back to factory settings. The TV output will be PAL so you will see the picture rolling. Don worry about it now. Do the software upgrade (follow the instructions carefully and don't unplug anything after the download until your receiver's front panel say NOCH)

Unplug your receiver and replug it again into power. When the NOCH show up again, the picture will be rolling and in black and white. Follow the following steps exactly before you click any button on your remote:

~ Click CH UP one time
~ Click OK
~ Click Vol UP one time (now the picture should stop rolling and the highlight will be on NTSC)
~ Click CH UP one time
~ Click OK to STORE the settings.
