22 Khz option

On the antenna setup page is an option to turn on or off the 22 Khz. Being a newbie to FTA, I am not sure what this is for and what to set it on. Any explanations of this will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Thanks,
The antenna page is where you set up a particular lnbf. The 22khz option is used when you are using a 22khz switch that needs to be activated in order to get to that lnbf. If you don't have a 22khz switch, leave it off.
An example of using the 22khz option is when trying to control a DirecTV 3 lnb dish. The DirecTV system has a 22khz switch which if you have 22khz off, it gives you the 101 sat, and if 22khz is on you get the 110/119 sats.
Anyway, the fact that you're asking, suggests that you don't have a 22khz switch needing that option, so leave it off. It is automatically off if you have a universal lnbf, since it has a 22khz switch which is handled automatically by the universal setting in the receiver.

Additional Infor

My receiver is actually slaved to a C-band dish with a C-band lnb. I am going to add a Ku lnb in the very near future. I have my switch to allow the receiver to receive both C and Ku band. Do I need to turn on the 22 Khz for the the C-band lnb? Will I need to turn it on when I add the switch and the Ku lnb?

I do appreciate everyone sharing their knowledge.

Thanks,

It depends on what kind of switch you buy. Most people use DiseqC switches, mainly because you can choose between more than just 2 lnbs, but for just choosing between C and Ku, you could use a 22khz switch if you wish. In my setup, I have a blocked "T" on both the C and Ku coax (ie letting the analog receiver power the lnbs), then I have the blocked side of each "T" go to a diseqC switch, and the output of that going to my Ultra. I could have used a 22khz switch if I wanted to, ie I'd turn on 22khz to get one port, and turn it off to get the other port. Since I'm not using 22khz I have 22khz turned off, even though diseqC commands are sent over a 22khz carrier.
