Fortec 6000 Green Screen

Per Sadoun request to share my experiences:

Last week, my Fortec 6000 receiver went totally green, without the possibility of re-boot after unplugging, disconnecting all connecttions, and reconnecting all cables. Prior I was able to pan the sky from 40.5W to 137.0W, using Stab 120 with 90cm for KU, and Aston positioner to move 10ft Winegard for C band, successfully.

Recommendations from this forum, was to re-install software from Fortec web site, which I did.

Somewhat successful, I was able to boot system to a NOCH screen on receiver. However, I now have new problems. Software from Fortec (TP and Channel) covers everywhere around the globe, except the Americas (30.0W to 139W), and I have lost positioner function on receiver programme, and now have to create individual satellite along with active TP and channels.

My questions:
1.Any recommendations on software upload for this receiver?
2.As anyone use SatcoDX *.SDX programmes to upload unto this receiver, and how did you convert file to become *.img?
3 Has any one use STB Edit, along with Uploader, and how do you it?

This is a great hobby, if you have the knowledge, and open architecture equipment. I am hungry for info to make this machine work.

Sadoun, any recommendations.......?

dead receiver

I havent loaded or upgraded any software, but I would suggest that Sadoun reload software for you. I think they do offer this service. I havent tried to load or need to reload, but if I ever do I will have them do it since they already know the in's and out's of it. You could have gotton a glitch during the upload and maybe thats why its not fully rebooting. I would email Sadoun about this issue.

Software

See my thread on this forum about STB editor. Get the recommended Oct transponder file off of the Fortec website and upload this to the receiver. That will load in the U.S. sat's and positions so you don't have to do it manually. Once the Oct file is loaded run a new search using the NIT function to find new transponders since Oct. Once you get it reloaded make sure to always use the STB to save the current file after making any changes so you always have a working file saved.
