Fortec Remote Problem

I have a Fortec 786-NA that we bought for Christmas last year. I can't get the remote to work. it does nothing. I replaced the batteries and still it does nothing. I can turn the receiver on and change channels on the receiver itself, but I don't see any way to switch satellites, yy, on the receiver, so I can't use the Fortec. I tried pressing the SAT/TV button to see if it was just in the wrong mode. But it didn't help. Is my remote necessarily dead - or is there some setting that I'm overlooking?

Thanks,

Serena

Re: Fortec Remote Problem

I guess your remote is dead. Contact Sadoun to see if he has any Fortec remote control for sale. Don't forget to let him know you are using Fortec 786NA. The Lifetime remote control does not work with 786 model.

Remote

Sounds like the remote is dead. Their is a chance that the receiver is not recognizing the remote for some reason. If you have saved your program files on computer you may want to do a factory reset on the receiver, that may bring back the capability of using the remote, however I would put my money on the remote being bad.

You could probably have some dust in the remote or the connections to the battery are not contacting. Check any lose connectors. If you have a video camera, you can aim the remote towards the camera lens and try pushing some buttons. Look through the camera LCD screen to see any infra-red signals out of the remote.

We don't have extra Fortec 786NA remotes available for sales right now but we are expecting a shipment soon. We could also program a universal remote and send it to you if you need something urgent.

Fortec remote problem

The system is just under a year old. It should still be under warrantee, right?

I won't speak for Sadoun but generally most satellite retailers do not include remote controls under warranty; simply because nine times out of ten the remote has been physically damaged -- dog buried it in the yard, kids spilled Coke on it, rabbit chewed it up (seriously  ) and a host of other misfortunes.
