Gotta go slow Bob. I probably would not worry so much about what you find just find something. We can identify from there and get you straightened out. If you are using a Fortec dish many have posted a 5 degree error in dish elevation settings. Try moving dish elevation up 5 degrees and slowly sweep east to west trying to find signal. You need to be tuned to an active transponder for the sat you are searching for. In case you have not read it before this process is far easier if you take a small tv and the receiver out with you to the dish when getting it set up.

Let us know your exact hardware setup and location. I was outside today tuning in my 80cm dish with a new motor, and ran into the dish elevation problem. Patience is a key thing here.

If you want help (hands on) you are going to have to give me better than west side. I am working til 7:30 but after that could head your way and look at where you are at in the installation.

My dish elevation, on the 80 cm dish was off by about 5 degrees. It calculates at 38.4 degrees, but my best signal is about 43 degrees . It's not uncommon. Set at 38.4 degrees , I got NO quality, even on Nimiq 2, a powerful circular bird, but raise that dish a few degrees and watch the quality bar light up.
