dp pro plus lnb

I have a twinhan visionplus starbox usb.I setup my fta using a 3 lnb 18 inch dish and that worked out ok.. .I now have a 20 inch dish with a dual dishpro plus lnb.My question is do I need to supply power to the lnb.I've read I may need to have atleast one stb.But I've also read about powered switches. Also in myreading I came across a DP plus 44 switch. Is it the switch I need or a box or neither?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. And I am a Sadoun customer
JIM

What are you receiving with that setup? Dn dishes are not large enough for any type of decent reception of FTA DVB signal not to mention being a circular lnbf when 99%+ of FTA DVB is linear. Seems like an aweful lot of money and effort for a couple scattered channels here and there.

Well you can expect to get next to nothing with your present setup. Regardless of how many or what type of switches you buy. You first need to replace the dish with a dish of at least 31" and then replace the lnbf you have with a linear Ku lnbf. Then use the install info found at Sadoun's website to properly install your dish. If you have problems after doing this I am confident you will find answers here. As I originally posted your dish is to small for FTA DVB reception and you have the wrong lnbf. No matter how many times you ask these 2 facts remain.

mobrules, I don't have a specific answer for you, but I too had run across someone saying that you might need a DishPro receiver connected to your DishPro LNB in order to provide appropriate power. It did seem, from what I'd read, that PC-based tuners were more apt to require the DishPro receiver connection due to the lack of proper voltage output from those cards.

I was doing some tinkering, hoping to use my digiwave to get BYUTV using my old Dish500 setup, and it worked 'fine' using a dishpro lnb and a dp32 switch (got some previews and NASA). Eventually, however, I ended up ordering a bigger dish in order to pull down BYUTV from another sat - as it appeared that the lyngsat "FTA" indicator for Dish's BYUTV offering was incorrect (as it shows up as encrypted on my receiver, when I do a scan). I guess that's all good now anyhow, since my dish500 is now hanging off the side of my roof due to a tree branch (ice storm)

Jim

DPPlus LNBFs will require a lot of power (over 500 mA) way more than the Max. LNB Supply Current: 400mA that the STARBOX will supply. So, a powered switch like the DishProPlus DPP44 switch will be needed. But why go through all this expense and hassle for a couple of promo channels? Not worth it.

You may consider changing the DPP lnbf on your new dish to a DP lnbfs instead.

Sorry for the 3rd degree earlier....... My experience has shown that a DISeqC switch and an 18" "pie pan" dish ( or several) will give better results than DP34's etc. Gol, Nasa, and some music can be received off those birds. Add a nice stereo and there you go.

it would be better to go with a invacom qph-031 it does both circular and linear ku sats add a 36'" dish and a disqec switch and you are all set.
