I agree with Rainman. They are good dishes, but heavy. I think there is one person on this forum who got one working with I think an HH120, but I think you have to strip it down as much as possible, and also try to get the center of gravity as close to the rotation axis of the motor as possible.

It is possible to modify one for a big dish mount (if you can find one) as well. I've run into a couple people who have done this. There is one current thread over at Satforums where a fellow has done this.

http://forums.satforums.com/SatForum...250.21#13250.6

He posted a link to some pictures of his modifications.

As you see, he had to turn the primestar mount upside down, and weld a pipe onto the big dish mount to accept it. The little dish motors have a bent shaft coming out of the motor, which would allow you not to have to turn the dish mount upside down with some motors, although I think you might be better off with a motor where the shaft goes up instead of down, if you try a small dish motor.
I used to have one of those Primestar dishes, but unfortunately gave it away several years ago to some hams who wanted to use it for amsat stuff.
I wish I still had it. I could put it to good use now.

yes it can be done. People have used SG2100 with them. They removed the back part (heaviest) and just fabricated something on the back

I put a piece of plywood on the back and put an old 24" dish bracket and it worked fine for a fixed system

Here is some info from Satelliteguys on it

I have a primestar disk working very well on a HH-120. Had to make a sleeve to make the existing post mount fit on the 120 and as we had a lengthy discussion on a problem with the mysterious 5° mis-match between the proper alignment and the markings on the elevation scale. Once that got sorted out, I have had absolutely no problems seeing the belt in the area that is not covered by trees. (I can now see Telstar 7 @ 129 as the leaves have fallen off the trees) .
