Is there a basic "FTA TV-Guide" published?
Hi,
thanks all for the earlier help with system purchase; I went ahead and ordered my motorized system from Sadoun .. can't wait to get it! I also bought the 36" dish.
So I've been surfing around the 'net hoping to find some readable form of program guide.
It's still a bit of mystery to me.
I know what satellite(s) I should expect to see .. and be seen "by" ...
I know what FTA programs I am likely to find if I establish reception.
What I wondered though, if there's a standard (more or less) "tv guide" thing out there for FTA (I'm on the west coast.)
I did find that site "Zap To It" ... which lists a mighty plethora of info; no doubt about it ... but I fail to see how what they list corresponds to anything FTA related.
Is there a general FTA tv guide out there? Something that'll tell me, not just what program is available if I point to xyz satellite at xzy time on xzy day, but tell me a full day or week's listing?
I know I can doodle through Lyngsat .. and get some info, ... but I'm wondering about a tv-guide format kind of thingf for FTA programming.
Thanks everyone,
rrf

Hi, I tried Titan
Thanks,
... well, unless I'm interpreting their on-screen info incorrectly, one cannot access C-Band or Ku-Band programming info; in fact, they explain that they do not presently offer that, though in the future they may.
Perhaps that's what the deal with "Zap-To-It" is as well.

Simply no. There is a site which at the time I can not recall that does list most all channels and programming (maybe Titan). You have the ability to custom build your program guide. You will have to correspond with data at lyngsat and remember lyngsat is not 100% reliable.

I think we need to remember that most of channels, even they are FTA are not for wide public use (except for religious and some foreign like Russia Today or CCTV9).
If you write them, they will not send you a QSL card, and even may deside to encrypt their broadcast.
With TitanTV, I was able to build my own TV guide for RTN channels on G10R (almost all of them), KUIL, KUSM and KUEN, putting them as "Analog" and using their call signs.
But their analog programming sometimes differs from theit "LP" programming, which we can see, and some stations are not listed on TitanTV.
Also, some stations even have no schedule posted anywhere.

those replies helped, thanks
Thanks for that info; I understand that FTA simply wouldn't have a corresponding "TV Guide" manual out there ...
I think I'll get by, ... I mostly know which 10-20 stations I'll likely only tune into anyhow, .. and they post their programming on their websites .. more or less; we;;, the PBS stations anyhow.
This is all new to me ...can't wait for my package to arrive.
Thanks!

Michael Kilgore's FTAList.com site has a guide that at least lists some movies and sports events. Check out:

I am a MythTV user, and it normally uses Zap2it Data Direct as a source for listing channels. They do have support for satellite TV providers, and here's a list. I am not sure how accurate they are -- but I'll find out!
4DTV - USA - Satellite
AFN Satellite - USA - Satellite
C-Band - USA - Satellite
DIRECTV - USA - Satellite
DISH Network - USA - Satellite

I use both Titan-TV, and Zap-2-it. Zap-2-it has the advantage that you can automate the download with 3rd party software, however the problem is that you can't (or at least I haven't figured out how to) mix lineups. Ie you have to choose something like a cable system, or DTV, or Dishnet, or whatever, so while you can get many channels, you can't get all of them.
However TITAN-TV has a "Customize" function that has an "Add Station/Callsign" function. This will allow you to add virtually ANY channel to your lineup, regardless of where it is. I'm using a basic DTV lineup, but have added local channels from dozens of other cities, I've added some PPV channels that occasionally (not recently) are free, and have added Canadian channels, etc, etc. I have yet to find an actual "broadcast" channel (as opposed to a point to point feed that doesn't have a published schedule) that I couldn't find a schedule for on Titan-TV. Basically, if the channel has a published schedule, you should be able to find it on Titan-TV.
