Need a bit of info

Rather than go with DTV Latin America I was curious if I would be able to get some North American programming that is worthwhile (FTA with a Pansat 2500a) at Lat. 11º 15’ N Long. 74º 14’ W. To cut to the chase this location is Santa Marta, Colombia. I have just purchased a home there and want to get some entertainment going. The neighborhood would frown on a C band dish so I will only be putting up a K band. I know that limits what I will be able to receive but the smaller dish is more sociably acceptable in the area where I live. I have been to the Lyngsat site but it is a bit confusing to figure out what is what. Can someone clue me in on what Sats are available with the PanSat 33" dish and of course I realize I will likely need to buy an HH motor from Sadoun to install.

Thanks in advance to whomever can help
BJ

G 10r and amc 4 has some north american program as well as some spanish speaking channels on satmex 5 & 6 that are free to air in ku band if you are looking for premium channels you are out of luck.

you need to do some research on the individual sats around 74W, look them up and see if you can find their "footprint"... you might find some sats are unviewable in Columbia due to low signal strength.

Here is example of BrasilSat footprints.
http://www.starone.com.br/english/st...satelites2.php

as such, these would not be visable in the mainland USA.

You need to do similar for G10R and AMC4 and others.
This question is not asked very frequently, so I have not done any research in this area.

Good luck.

Something I have noticed as I peruse for additional channels. Most is C Band. I can not say as far as Columbia goes but I just scanned in 40.5 which is heavy with South American channels and it is C Band. I got 99 channels from it mainly Spanish. Do not know if M6 footprints down there but it too is C Band. Going to have to check footprints to be sure.
