Now wait a minute I bought one of those drill bits spoke of in earlier posts. Can't I just drill a hole through the Earth? The bit I have is 18"D. Is that a big enough hole?
On a serious note when you are looking through lyngsat at the different sats out there you will find a column marked beam. This tells you where the signal is available at. Many are clickable to show you a coverage map.

Never thought about that. Wouldn't even need the hole angle to be perfect. This is great! Hated to think I had a machine shop turn down the shank to 1/2" to fit my drill for nothing

Anybody know the zip code to Egypt? Of course I am assuming Egypt has a zip code If it has no zip code the whole thing is a wash. How can I ever set my angles?

UPDATE: The Fortec dish would not fit through the 18" hole. I cut it in half and mounted a spring loaded hinge to open it when it got free at the other end of the hole. That worked fine but still short 4000 miles of cable. Will let all know how this all works out.

I just got back from a 2 week European vacation and I sure would love to find a way to drill a hole or to lay a long cable to get Astra and Hotbird
Those 2 are loaded with channels. I scanned in 1300 channels on those 2, many FTA including MTV Austria and Germany, VIVA and bunch of others.

Ok I just got a letter from the government of Turkey. Seems as though I missed with my hole for Egypt. Not real happy folks there in Turkey. Dish retracted and starting to fill the hole in hopes I am not extradited. Starting over again on my hole angle. Missed somewhere in my calculations.
VJ I have heard the Hotbird sats are killer sats for programming. I have MTV for Argentina off C Band from (I think) 50. I can loan you the drill bit
