Any dish installer in Austin Texas?

I am really tired on messing with this dish, I can't get the channels I need. I like to know if there is anyone in Austin Texas that can come to my house and get this thing fixed? The dish is already installed and I get some of the T5 channels but notall.

The person I bough the dish and receiver , also tried to set it up, but it never worked properly. and he won't return my calls.

Thanks

One of two things:

1) you need to enter current transponder data for the channels you don't get. Go to www.lyngsat.com and get the current data for IA5 (you'll need frequency, polarity (H or V) and symbol rate. Example: 12,177 MHz, V , 23,000.

2) the LNB is slightly out of alignment. You can tell by going to setup and checking signal strength on all the transponders.

I am getting signal strength of 40-70% but 0% quality of some of the frequency. Please know I am getting some (i.e.: Frq 11836 V 20765 and 11867 V 220000) but not all. The one I am especially interested to get are 12152 H 20000 and 12090 H 20000.

My receiver is R-SAT/DVB388.

try adjusting your lnb in or out to see if it helps.

try turning your lnb (called "skew") to see if it helps.

When I put your zip code into calculator here
http://www.sadoun.com/Sat/Installati...Calculator.htm

I got 178.6 for compass setting to point your dish to.
Use a good compass to get this lined up.

You can see how to skew your LNB on this page:

http://www.sadoun.com/Sat/Installati...nting-Tips.htm

Seems odd that you're receiving the Vertical transponders, and not the Horizontal transponders.
I'm not famaliar with your receiver, maybe you need to change the LNB type, power setting, or LNB frequency in the settings page of your receiver to get it working with your particular LNB.

K, we're narrowing down this sucker... quality on VERTICAL transponders only:

1) are you running the coax cable through a splitter? If so, do not do this.
2) your LNB may be defective (not switching polarities)
3) your receiver may be defective (not switching LNB voltage)
3) your dish is a bit out of alignment - put the receiver on one of the HOR transponders and move the dish a little bit while watching the TV (good to have 2 people); look for quality reading going up.

Check that out and report back.

There's no foolproof way to test an LNB. You can test the receiver by measuring the voltage output of the IF IN connector; it should be 13 or 18 Vdc approximately and should alternate as you switch transponder polarities. Those are the two least likely things to cause your problems. I suspect your dish is off or like pmb1010 told you the skew may be off.

Thank you for all your help, but I am a first grader when it comes to setting up satellite and dish. Now I have moved the Skew and lost all of my other channels that I was getting previously.

What should I do now?

Please help, any technician in Austin?

- call the place you bought the receiver & dish from? do they offer any technical support?

- look in phone book/yellow pages under dish installers. You have to be careful on this one, it's possible to get a guy out that only knows Dish and Directv, and nothing about FTA. He'll get the dish lined up with service tools, but if your receiver is not configured correctly with it's settings, the installer might throw his hands up in the air - AFTER he gives you the bill, of course - and leave you in a similar postion to where you are now.

if the only thing you move was the lnb for skew tune to a channel you were getting and move the lnb back to get quality.remember to alow 5 seconds for receiver to see the change.

Check your receiver settings. On my Fortec Platinum and my other receivers for that matter I can lock to either 13 or 18 or both voltages. If you have your receiver set to 13v that is why you are only getting V tp's. If you set it to 18V you will only get H tp's. Needs to be 13/18v or auto or in some cases (very rare) there is no setting and the receiver is supposed to handle it automatically.

My BEC receiver allows me to set everything per tp on any sat. If your receiver is this way you may have your H tp's set incorrectly. What type of receiver are you using? Make and model
